We are excited for Baby Osterlund! Lots of space, and plenty of organization. :) It was fun to put it all together. We had help from many places. Adam's sister helped us put the finished touches together, some friends gave us the crib, Adam's parents picked up the changing table for us, my parents gave us some hangers, the list goes on!

James 1:27: Pure and undefiled religion is to help the widow and the orphan
We are hosting a community event to help support our adoption with a fundraiser! Please consider helping out in any way that you can.
James 1:27 tells us to take care of both widows and orphans, so we are excited to partner with our church to help bring our baby home, and to bless a widow in our area at the same time. There are a number of ways for everyone to chip in and help.
1.) Spread the word of this event to friends and family; the more people the better!
2.) Consider donating your time to help fix up this widows home.
3.) Consider giving what you can to sponsor us as we work.
4.) Consider praying for the event: for God to supply the workers, to bring in the finances, and to provide protection for the workers.
5) Consider bringing a dish for lunch for the workers.
We are not all called to adopt, but we can all play a role in serving orphans and widows. Please consider doing whatever you can to help us in this event.
We are currently searching for a widow in our community that we can help, and will post an update once we have found one. We are excited to partner with the Church and help someone out in need.
The work day is tentatively set for October 17, 2015, and we would love to get your donation before then. We have $8,500 left to raise to bring our baby home. All donations received will go into our church's adoption fund for members of the church. This means 100% of your donations go to bring a baby into their forever home, and are tax deductible!
Thank you for considering giving, and feel free to share with friends and family!
There are two easy ways to donate:
- Send a check:

Faithful
Wow! God is so faithful! Since the last blog post, we....
1. Were blessed by 38 people showing up to the bowling fundraiser.
2. Were given the opportunity to do a Both Hands project (more on this in a later post)
3. Were given a matching grant through Hand in Hand
4. Received a grant from the Eph. 3:20 foundation (our 1st grant!)
5. Were able to say yes to a birth mother situation, and are waiting to hear back.
6. Had help from Adam's sister Jenn to put the nursery together...we are almost done :)
So much has happened!
So, a little bit more about the bowling fundraiser:
We enjoyed getting to see the people who cam from different parts of our lives; that was really fun! We had family and friends from Bible Study, Lakeview, Living Waters (church),Lake Point (Adam's parents' church) and other communities. It was a blessing to see the people who walked in and were willing to pay a little extra for bowling to support us, as well. We had a boy who bowled for the first time, which was exciting to see. Friends were excited about the items in the silent auction, and we even had items left over to use for another fundraiser. Since we ended up getting the whole alley to ourselves, we even got to have the "cosmic bowling" experience. God definitely showed up!

Waiting
Adoption involves A LOT of waiting. A LOT! :) I was talking to a friend last week about "waiting." It seems that everyone is "waiting" for something:
*to finish high school
*to get into college
*to graduate from college
*to get a job
*to get married
*to have a house
*to go on vacation
......and so many more things..........
I have been thinking about this lately, and I think it is part of how God helps point us to Himself, Heaven and eternity. If everything always went smoothly and was perfect here on Earth, we might be tempted to not look towards Heaven as much. Seeing Christ, in person. How amazing is that?!?
Recently Adam and I have been reading You and Me Forever by Francis and Lisa Chan. He talks about not wanting anything more than Christ. What an amazing perspective. We cannot have that perspective on our own. It comes from God!
I am excited to hear the "Well done, good and faithful servant," even if there is some "waiting" between now and then.
